ASUU declares indefinite strike, plans increased media engagement if no agreement with FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared a total and indefinite strike.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the union’s National Executive Council held on Sunday in Abuja.

The PUNCH reports that the union started its ongoing strike on February 14, 2022.

The strike is in protest against the government’s failure to release revitalisation funds for universities, failure to release the white paper report of the visitation panel to universities and the failure to deploy the University Transparency Accountability System for the payment of salaries and allowances of lecturers.

The union’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed the outcome of the NEC meeting in a statement on Monday titled, ‘ASUU strikes are to save public universities.’

In the statement, Osodeke said the NEC regretted that the union had experienced deceit of the highest level for over five years, adding that the government engaged ASUU in fruitless and unending negotiation without a display of fidelity.

The statement read, “In view of the foregoing, and following extensive deliberations on government’s response to the resolution of February 14, 2022, so far, NEC concluded that the demands of the union had not been satisfactorily addressed. Consequently, NEC resolved to transmute the roll-over strike to a comprehensive, total and indefinite strike action beginning from 12.01am Monday, August 29, 2022.

“NEC acknowledges with appreciation past and current efforts by eminent Nigerians and groups to mediate in the lingering crisis. Our union remains open to reasonable engagements as we have always done.

“However, ASUU remains focused on the full implementation of the December 23, 2020 Memorandum of Action for quick restoration of industrial harmony in Nigeria’s public universities.

Liverpool make history in Champions League with record of three players

Liverpool broke a world record in the UEFA Champions League emerging as the first team with three players to net eight times in the League in a single season, and as well two of those players reached a remarkable 10-goal mark.

The Kops who recently beat AS Roma 5-2 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals are arguably the English team with most active frontline who are driven by the desire to see the back of the net at every single game.

The trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have scored over eight Champions League goals this season which is a world record feat, as no football team has ever reached that benchmark in the history of the prestigious league.

Nevertheless, the Egyptian, Mo Salah, and his Brazillian colleague, Roberto Firmino has recorded 10 goals each in the Champions League this season. One can comfortably say that Liverpool is the first team with three players who have scored eight goals, and two who have 10 goals to their name in the UCL.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah takes the number two position on this season's Champions League highest goalscorers table with Cristiano Ronaldo topping the chart. While the Liverpool striker has 10 goals so far, the Real Madrid playmaker has scored 15 times in the League this season. Roberto Firmino seats neck to neck with his teammate, Salah with 10 goals.

The perfect bonding among the three Liverpool frontline is one that can never be overemphasized as the result shows how cooperative and result-driven the team is which has once been commended by the manager, Jurgen Klopp.

Among Mohamed Salah's records, this season was that of being the African player with the most Champions League goals which was held before by Samuel Eto'o. Salah's 10 UCL goals now edge Eto'o's eight.

The aforementioned record has gone to show how effective Liverpool's frontline is as no other club in the world has got those number of players with a similar number of goals in the UEFA Champions League.

With one and possibly two more matches to go in the Champions League, there are possibilities that the Liverpool trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino can add even more feathers to their caps.

Five Diabolic Things Yahoo Boys Do To Become Wealthy… No. 5 Is Very Dangerous - INFORMATION NIGERIA

The love for money is, according to the Bible, the root of all evil. This part of the scripture points to the extent Yahoo boys (internet fraudsters) go in order to defraud their victims.

Yahoo Yahoo (internet fraud) has become rampant among Nigerian youths and many of these fraudsters now engage in rituals for their illegitimate business to boom. Yahoo boys who engage in rituals are called Yahoo plus – and these group of fraudsters can been seen in every nook and cranny of the country.

1. Eating Human Faeces:
Yahoo plus eat faeces with bread in form of a sandwich.
It was reported that a lady once overheard her ex-boyfriend in a conversation with a friend who listened to him narrate his experience while eating the mixture which is believed to be one of the rites he needed to fulfill in a quest for money.

2. Barking once in a month as part of money ritual:
They type of ritual some of them do requires them to bark like a dog. There is a video of a Yahoo boy who was barking like a dog while his friends watched and laughed at him.In the background, his friends cheered him up, saying “owo de” which means “Money has arrived”.

3. ‘Oshole’, the power of compulsion:
This is a type of ritual that empowers a Yahoo plus to command his victim, otherwise known as ‘client’, to do whatever he wants.
The ‘client’ cannot decline whatever he or she is asked to do, and these fraudsters use this type of ritual to defraud them of a lot of money.

4. Wiping a lady’s private part with towel after she has been slept with:
Yahoo plus also make use of females in the quest for money, by wiping moisture from a woman’s part after she has been slept with. The material is then used in a ritual.
There is a lot that could happen to any lady who falls victim of this evil act by Yahoo plus.

5. Killing one’s nephew for money rituals:
Yahoo boys who engage in rituals for the purpose of making money could be told to bring forth his nephew for the ritual.
An image of one Tunde Owolabi, who was captured in handcuffs as he crouched beside the corpse of a little boy reportedly 7 years old, was shared by Odueko Olumide John. This is the extent Yahoo boys go in order to become wealthy.

The suspects were arrested for various offences bordering on cyber crimes and money laundering; and the raid was carried out following intelligence reports concerning their flamboyant lifestyle. During the operation, exotic cars and charms were recovered.

The EFCC zonal head for Lagos, Akanninyene Ezima, said: “It is to checkmate the activities of these undisciplined elements who want to reap where they did not sow. By this action, we are also sending a red alert to the so-called yahoo-yahoo boys that engaging in fraudulent deeds does not pay.”

MY PROBLEM WITH PROFESSORS OF ENGLISH:

A young girl newly married to a professor of English ran to her mother and said she was tired of the 2 week old marriage and would never go back to him.

The shocked mother asked her what the problem was.
The girl said her husband is so obsessed with his field of study that even outside the classroom, he teaches English to everyone that comes his way.
She said she cannot hold a 5 minute discussion with him plainly without him bringing long, high sounding words that often leave her confused and with a severe headache.

The mother asked for examples of such trouble causing expressions and the girl said:

Yesterday, I asked him if the plumber had fixed  the leaking tap.
He said: My response to your inquiry is positively in the affirmative.
The mother asked the girl: What does that mean?
The girl replied: He simply meant yes.

Last week, I asked him if it is true his friend really travelled and he said:
His proclamation is a gross distortion of reality a reflection of terminological inexactitude.

The amazed mother said: Wow, meaning what?
The girl said:
He meant to say he lied.

Another time, I asked why he looked pale and he said:
My general systemic metabolism standard is physiologically in a state of total indisposition.
The frightened mother asked her daughter: Oh my, what did he mean by that?
The girl said:
Oh, he meant he was ill.

Again, last Tuesday, I told him I heard on the radio that man will soon land on Mars.

He said: I find that assertion so ludicrous that I cant help but explode in a mirthful guffaw.

The mother asked:
Really? And what did he do?

The girl replied:
He just laughed.

Finally, on Sunday afternoon, my friend visited us, and as she was going, he said:

This is wishing you an expeditionary voyage and a locomotive advancement to your ultimate destination.

Mother said: Unbelievable ! What message was he passing to her?

Girl said: Go well.

The mother said:
Enough ! Say no more.
Remain at home.

Buhari’ make a comment on Gaddafi twisted for cheap political goals – Presidency

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s comments on former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, on the killings by herdsmen in Nigeria was misinterpreted to score cheap political goals.
Buhari had on Wednesday in London told Archbishop Justin Welby that the farmers/herdsmen clashes were made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region in Nigeria and other parts of West African sub-region.

The president was quoted at the meeting as saying: “The problem is even older than us. It has always been there, but now made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region.

These gunmen were trained and armed by Muammar Gadaffi of Libya.

“When he was killed, the gunmen escaped with their arms. We encountered some of them fighting with Boko Haram. Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons.

“The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.’’

The presidential aide, however, frowned at the way and manner Buhari’s comment was twisted in the social media and some traditional media outfits for political reasons.

He said: “Since President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Archbishop of Canterbury in London on Wednesday, and spoke on the likely impact of gunmen trained by former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, on the killings by herdsmen in Nigeria, some people have virtually flown off the handle, ululating as if wailing was going out of fashion.

“They twisted the meaning of Mr President’s words (yes, some people twist everything, even the words of God; 2 Peter:3, 15,16). They claimed he was blaming Gaddafi, long dead, for the killings in Nigeria.

“But let’s see the vacuousness and intellectual laziness in the twist they have given what President Buhari said, out of sheer malice and evil hearts. Sadly, even a Senator was involved in the sickening display of poisonous heart.

“That’s what you get when small minds get into high places.’’
